Symbolic Zen art speaks to me on a personal level it reminds me the world can be less complicated, more gentle, my art is how I share my worldview.
The artistic process:
I love to create and appreciate that technology allows me to experiment in ways I never could before programs like Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator came into being. I spent hours in the dark room burning and dodging and this feels like a natural extension of that process.
Most of my art begins with something I’ve photographed, painted or drawn in my studio. I then scan into my computer to digitize it. This procedure allows me to combine my paintings, drawings woodcuts with my photographs and I can also build layers, redraw or paint in one of the programs. It's a joy being to experiment and expand on my original art. As I've said I'm fascinated by symbolic art and the idea that a simple symbol can hold a much larger thought. I weave all that as well as my Celtic roots into my artwork.
